Older woman on the beach

This image is so ambiguous to me. At first glance, she looks so melancholy, staring pensively into a Beckettian landscape. On the other hand, she might simply be waiting patiently for the photographer to line up the shot while otherwise having a great day at the beach. Either way, she seems content to be taking it all in. And frankly, I love the way her boots make her look like an elderly Olive Oyl. This photo is about 2.75 x 4.5 inches. Written on the back is “M L Wasner”, which I’ll assume is the name of the woman pictured.
