Black smiles

Since it’s February, I thought of doing a post to commemorate Black History Month, though I was worried it might turn out sort of token and patronizing. But I couldn’t ignore the fact that our current administration is baldly trying to suppress the celebration of diversity. So here is a random assortment of pictures of happy people going about their lives, a tiny act of resistance on my part to help make sure these lives are not erased.

As for these photos, the top two are Polaroids. On the back of the top left photo is written “Easter Sunday / Karen and Barry” and date-stamped April 6, 1969. The top right photo is dated 4-19-72. The bottom left photo has no information. And written on the back of the bottom right photo is “John Hay Senior Prom / June 6, 1969 / Wayne Nix & Gloria Mitchell”.
