Six young men with canes and corsages

This photo measures 3.5 x 5.5 inches, and comes with no information, so I’m at a loss as to who these fellows might be or why they’re dressed that way. I’d guess it’s some sort of fraternity regalia, though I could be way off base. I’m not sure if it would help to see the colors of the ribbons. At first glance, they all match, but upon closer inspection, their clothing isn’t uniform, and I’m also not even sure that the ribbons match. Only two of the six have ribbons on their canes that I can see, and they don’t seem to agree on how to hold a cane. I will say I’m impressed by some of the flashy chains some of them have across their vests, but I suppose this is a moment when a little bling is appropriate.

  1. They must be graduating from something, but where and from what? I’d guess they’re in central Europe, in the former Austria-Hungary, but that’s just a guess.

    • I think graduation is probably a good guess. And I was thinking it had a central European feel, too, though that was just a vague impression, so I’m glad to hear you feel the same way.
