Individually, these photos aren’t extraordinary, let alone in the best condition, but I couldn’t resist the chance to get two versions of what are apparently the same dozen people. These are large, each photo about 9.75 x 7.75 inches, mounted onto a cardboard frame/backing that measures 14 x 12 inches. (I had to scan them at work, since they were too much for my scanner at home.) There is no information on them, but the estate dealer who sold these to me said she understood them to be a group of school teachers in Utah. They look like a fun bunch, like they’re enjoying themselves too much to manage a perfectly collected pose, which adds to the charm.

These are wonderful! It’s unusual to see so many smiles. My guess would be that this was the graduating class of a small college. My first thought was a normal school (teacher’s college), but in that case there would likely be more women than men.
That’s a good idea, a graduating class. That would explain why they’re all the same age. There was a third picture I didn’t get, similar to the second one here, with people seated and standing. But I think there were more than twelve people, and there were only two or three of the same people from these photos. It was smaller, and much more damaged. So I didn’t end up taking it. But now I’m thinking I may go back soon and see if it’s still there. I find it hard to break up a set.
