Fats Domino

Celebrity photos can be fun, but I’m generally not drawn to mass-produced images for my collection. It’s different, though, when the image is one-of-a-kind, like this Polaroid of the singer/musician Fats Domino. I know nothing about the when or where or why of this photo, but he seems happy to oblige the photographer, which I like. This may reveal my ignorance, but I don’t recognize the woman here. Maybe his wife Rosemary? Maybe another performer? Maybe a fan? I’d be happy for thoughts on that. By the way, my last post, featuring the Bishop of Chichester, showed somebody noteworthy enough to be identified a century and a half later, and it’s likely that multiple copies were made. But I don’t think of it as a mass-produced celebrity photo, since it feels like it was made for his own personal use, rather than as a collectible souvenir for the public. All that is not to say I refuse to include mass-produced celebrity photos in my collection. An example of one I have is here.
