My first blog post!
What it is:
4 x 5.5 inch photo pasted on a 6 x 8 inch cardboard frame/backing.
What I know about it:
On the back, in pencil, is written F. M. Enderlin near the old mill at the farm / Prattsville / N.Y. There is a small photographer’s stamp on the back reading H. Beckham / Photographer / Prattsville, N.Y.
Comments:
Handsome, intense face looking directly at the viewer. Incongruities of indoor chair in outdoor setting, and nice clothes with muddy shoes. Relatively casual pose. Nice visual composition (face backed by lawn and framed by foliage, row of dirt underlining subject).
Welcome to blogging – love your site!
Thank you!

This one is for my man Matt, with whom we share a common interest in old photographs!
Thanks for the shout-out, Chris!
Hi, my name is Hannah and i’m 16 years old. I recently came across your website several months ago and ever since then I have became addicted to looking through your photos. I find it so fascinating to read about it and analyze what it was like back then. Keep on posting! 🙂
Hi Hannah! Thanks so much for your comment! It means a lot to me that you’ve been enjoying my blog, so I’m really glad you let me know. I obviously share your fascination with looking at these old images and imagining the bigger picture. Sorry I’ve slacked off in the last couple weeks, though after two solid years of daily posts I needed a little break. But I will definitely post more soon.
