What it is:
Cabinet card measuring 4.25 x 6.5 inches.
What I know about it:
If I can read the handwriting correctly, Mrs. Sedman & Ethel is written in pencil on the back. Photographer is W. L. Hall of Belfast, Maine.
Comments:
Would I be correct in assuming that Mrs. Sedman is the one seated? I don’t know what their relationship might be. Sisters, the older one married? While it’s normal for the studio shots to use props and furniture, the tablecloth strikes me as unusual, and makes me wonder if they were deliberately going for a more homey, domestic setting since it’s two women. And what’s on the table? It looks like a notebook or stack of paper. And some walnuts or something. I really can’t tell, even with my magnifying glass. Wonderful period curls in the hair on the left, and the hat would have looked great on her.
