I was going to post something else today, but when I logged on to my computer, messages all over the internet talked about commemorating how the nation had lost its innocence. I thought, “Really?” These folks are all smiles for the camera, but do we need to be reminded why those men are in uniform, and what that meant to life in general back then? I don’t want to live in the past, but I find it useful to examine it (and its artifacts, like my old photos) for its lessons. I believe it’s each new generation that loses its innocence as history repeats itself.
