Comments:
I noticed that my scanner seems to be making some of my photos look a bit more sepia than they are. Nothing drastic, but I noticed it on the posts from Halloween and the day after. I’m not especially computer savvy, and as I sat down to scan something today I wasn’t able to correct it, so in exasperation I decided to scan something that was sepia to begin with. I like this photo anyway, so that’s fine. Her kinky hair and half-smile help give a little twinkle to the eyes behind those glasses. And I think the rich detailing on her dress shows up pretty well. The more I look at the embroidery on her chest the more I think it’s shaped like some sort of bat logo, though, of course, I trust that wasn’t the intention.
What do people look at when they’re having their photograph taken? And why are some just naturally good subjects and others not. Is it all in the expression? I liked your choice of photograph – an elderly Mona Lisa.
Thanks.
“An elderly Mona Lisa”, I love it! Thanks for your comments.
Miss Prism!
Ha! Yes, exactly!
Great post
Thank you!
“bat logo”–ha!
I think the dark embroidery is ribbon embroidery, though I’m sure there are zillions of more-expert people who could comment on that. I would like one of them to look at this photo and explain how some of the different bits on the dress were done–it’s so elaborately fascinating.
I agree, there’s so much going on with this dress, it’s almost like a sampler.
