I was in the mood for something newer, so I started looking through my snapshots. I don’t know why this one has always appealed to me. I suppose it’s the almost storybook setting. I like the way the camera angle gives a subtly dynamic quality to the scene, and the way the dozen people standing there look like life is good. I have no idea who these people are or what this setting is. Or rather, I have lots of ideas, but no conclusive ones. There’s a young man in uniform and a young woman next to him, while the rest seem middle-aged or older. I can’t tell what the uniform is. I assume military, but for all I can tell he could be anything from an airline pilot to a security guard. The young woman next to him could be his sister, his wife, a stranger he just met, etc. These people could be relatives, friends, colleagues, etc. It could be a family gathering to celebrate the young people’s engagement, an afternoon tea hosted by a college dean’s wife at their home to honor an exemplary student, a board of directors of a charity documenting the purchase of this house for a charity, etc., etc. It might not even be a house, but a park lodge or something. Regardless, they give off the impression that all’s right with the world, and that’s good enough for me.
That sure is an adorable, vine-covered cottage!
I get the sense it’s watched over by magical forest creatures. 🙂
I want that house!!!
If only we knew where it is (or was).
What a wonderful shot. I imagine a lot of good memories and laughter when I see this group and this house.
I agree, I imagine the same thing.
