What it is:
Photo (3.25 x 4.25 inches) mounted on a cardboard frame/backing (3.75 x 5 inches).
What I know about it:
The penciled handwriting on the back is tricky to decipher, particularly the surname, but my best guess is that it says Großvater Geutler u. Vati, which is German for Grandfather Geutler and Dad. Two arrows are drawn on the front, presumably pointing to the men identified on the back.
Comments:
The man identified as “Dad” seems relatively young, so I’m guessing the handwriting was added some years after the photo was taken. Walking sticks aside, their nice clothes suggest to me they are out for an afternoon stroll through the woods rather than any strenuous mountaineering. Both of the young men appear to be wearing glasses, which in part made me wonder if they might be brothers. But maybe not, since why wouldn’t other close relatives be identified?
