Mary McL.

Click here to see it larger.

What it is:

Photo (1.5 x 2.5 inches) mounted on a cardboard frame/backing (3 x 4.5 inches).

What I know about it:

Photographer is The Hanselman Gallery of Big Rapids, Michigan.  Written on the back in pencil is the name Mary McLa.. with the last letter or two of the name an illegible scribble.

Comments:

I’ve been trying to be better about blowing up my scans so you can see detail, but it’s easy to forget that some of these pictures are rather small to begin with.  The image itself here is only an inch and a half wide, and the whole thing fits neatly in your hand.  You can put it in your coat pocket or your purse, in your traveling case or a mailing envelope.  It is small enough to always be with you.  It is small enough that if you pull it out to look at it in a crowded train car, your action can be tender and discrete, but it is large enough that you can still see her face and feel the warmth of her returned gaze.
