A reader comment on yesterday’s post requested more photos showing rituals and ceremonies. I’m guessing this one is a photo commemorating a school graduation. I have a number of school portraits that resemble what we think of today as school photos, basic headshots handed out to friends, often with inscriptions, though it seems the students went to individual portrait photographers, rather than having a single one come to the school as they do today (I could be wrong about that). But this one, from maybe a decade or so earlier, shows some items associated with the occasion, including the scroll and some congratulatory flowers (though they might, of course, be photographer’s props). Above all, it’s a very pretty, full-length portrait that is simply a pleasure to look at.
