What it is:

Cabinet card measuring 4.25 x 6.5 inches.

What I know about it:

Photographer is J. K. Stevens of Chicago, Illinois.  There is something written on the back that may be a name, but I’m having a hard time reading it.  Click on the link above to see for yourself (and to see the glorious graphic design of the card’s back).  If that’s a name, the first name might be Victor, but the last name has me stumped for now.

Comments:

One of my blog’s followers is Richard over at Lost and Found Photographs.   Not only does he do a blog showcasing the fun vintage photos he buys around where he lives in (I think) central England, but he’s participating in something called Movember, in which he grows a mustache during the month of November for charity (“mo” being slang for mustache).  I had never heard of this, and I think it’s a great idea.  So in honor of his charitable efforts, I’ll post a photo of a man with a splendid mustache.

  1. Haha! This made me laugh as soon as I saw it. I guess it’s the mustache…his haircut doesn’t really match. He does have a kind expression on his face.
I think it’s interesting that on the back it says “Instantaneously Portraits of Children”… and we think we’re so advanced with our one-hour photo center! 🙂

  2. Loving his moustache, it’s a cracker, I just wish mine looked like that!

  3. Movember started in Adelaide and has spread worldwide to raise funds for male health. My movember post was the Saddam era id card. Do you remember it Matt? This guy has a great tache and is very good looking. A nice way to start my day.

    • Yes, I remember that ID card. You’ve posted several ID cards lately, and they are fascinating. It makes me want to expand the scope of my collection. 🙂

  4. Great picture in honor of Movember! But, it wasn’t the mustache that caught my attention…it was his sideburns that run all the way to the mustache, Wowza!
