It’s not exactly a winter wonderland, and these people don’t seem to be infused with holiday cheer, but it’s another picture of people with now. Mother and daughters, perhaps? I find it an interesting character study.

Maybe the glare from the snow made them pull faces? This is the type of photo my mother would have torn up if it had been of her. I think the lady probably never saw the results of this photo shoot for it to have survived! I love the cloche hats the girls are wearing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them on children before.
She probably looks nicer when she’s smiling. I have a theory that a lot of these lousier photos were saved just because photos were more precious, unlike today. And I thought the same thing about the cloche hats. I think I’ve only posted one other picture of a girl with a cloche had, and frankly she looked like she was playing dress-up.
At a glance, the woman appears quite stern and solemn, but as I look closer, I wonder if she would have one of those smiles that make her look like a completely different person. Interesting photo – must be pretty mild for the woman to be without a coat.
Yes, she has one of those faces that might be completely transformed by a smile. And you’re right, it’s probably not terribly cold. Or they just ran outside for a moment to take the photo. But the snow looks rather slushy, so it’s probably a slightly warmer day.
