The littlest scarecrow
Click here to view it larger.
What it is:
Real photo postcard measuring 5.5 x 3.5 inches.
What I know about it:
An embossed photographer’s stamp in the lower right is from Latimer of Flushing, Michigan. The paper manufacturer’s markings (AZO, four triangles pointing up) give it a date range of 1904-1918.
Comments:
I’m not really sure what her pose is supposed to represent. (I’m assuming that’s a girl.) She almost looks like she’s leaning on those flowers like she’s leaning on the bar in a tavern. I’m guessing the photographer just caught her midway through a moment of silliness. In any case, it’s an interesting look at an old homestead, and that’s quite a crop of blooms.
