Apparently somebody named J. Mueller is selling, or is the agent responsible for the sale of, two lots of land. That much I can make out from the sign on the tree. I can’t make out enough of the address to tell me where this is, or at least where J. Muller is, but feel free to click here to see an enlargement and try for yourself. Meanwhile, who is this mob gathered here? Is a family reunion being held on a vacant lot? Are they perhaps gathered to celebrate the purchase of a new family homestead? Or the sale of an old one? It’s a fun bunch of people to examine, in any case. They seem happy. Note the random hand floating over the head of the man standing second from left. And no, I don’t understand why there’s an album mount stuck in the upper left like that. I’m assuming it was an accident.

Where is that software that takes a fuzzy image and creates a crystal clear facsimile when you need it? That sign is calling to be read…it almost leaps up at you, at the same time hiding in an indistinct blur. Oh well, nice group photo!
Ha! Yes, I’m sure the FBI could figure it out. Fortunately, as nice as it would be to know, it’s not vital to our appreciation of the picture.

You’re right, it is! I really don’t even know if the sign as anything to do with the reason these people are gathered here. But at least it would help determine the location.
In my editing hobby, I would have edited the photo to remove the sign…and focus on the people. But part of your photos is all about what else is in the photo.
Yes, a lot of the photos I post could benefit from being cleaned up a bit, but I try to post them “as is”. And I think part of the fun of the photo is the mystery of the sign.
