This photo is, among other things, something of a hairdo sampler. I sometimes watch old movies from that era and wonder if the women really bothered to do their hair up like that, or if it was just Hollywood extravagance. Then I see pictures like this and I’m reminded that, yes, they did. Not that there aren’t challenging hairstyles in any era, of course.

Deanna Durbin? Oh! So weird: they just announced that she died on April 30. I was just checking to make sure my memory of her face was correct, and saw the news.
How funny, I saw her obituary yesterday, and I would have assumed that’s what put her into your mind. Yes, Deanna Durbin, Gloria Jean, Ella Raines, some body like that. It’ll come to me.
The two on the left have the same shoes–I wonder if they bought them together?
It’s quite possible. These look like friends who probably spent a lot of time together and shared a lot.
