What it is:
Real photo post card trimmed down to 2.5 x 5.5 inches.
What I know about it:
Undated and unidentified, thought the paper manufacturer’s markings (AZO, two triangles up and two down) narrow the date range to 1918-1930.
Comments:
I’m guessing the man’s uniform is military, though he also reminds me of an old liveried chauffeur. There’s enough of a resemblance between these people that I’m assuming they are mostly, if not all, family. And my readers who are cat fanatics should note the black cat in the lap of the woman center. Also, I wonder what appeared in the inch that was cut off the right side of this picture, because if the photo was trimmed to fit a frame, a better job could have been done at centering the image.
Awww…teeny little cat! That definitely could be a WWI uniform. And the women’s clothes fit with 1918, though I don’t think they limit it to that year.
I can’t help but wonder if the cut was done to remove somebody from the picture.
Isn’t the cat adorable? At first I thought there might be something in the crook of the man’s arm, too, but I think it’s just shadow. And yes, I was wondering if somebody may have been excised from the photo.
Yeah, I think it’s his pocket flap casting a weird shadow. But what’s in his right hand?
Oh, I’m not sure, now that you mention it. I didn’t pay particular attention to it, assuming it was his hat or something. Perhaps it’s another animal?
It’s a family photo…the cat had to be there! 😉
