Comments:
I went to a holiday party these evening, and my friend Jenn gave me this beautiful photo as a gift! I can’t help but feel that the plant looks a bit like a half-hearted afterthought in this composition, especially next to the elegantly turned out woman. But then again, it’s interesting that the plant is in sharper focus than the woman. By the way, other examples of this photographer’s work can easily be found online with a quick internet search.
What a stunning photo! And I didn’t notice the plant til you mentioned it, but it is fairly amusing. It looks half dead. Perhaps the photographer thought that spot was too empty.
Glad you like it! I read somewhere that houseplants were hard to keep in Victorian times because they tended to suffer from the soot and fumes of gas lighting. I wonder if that’s the case here.
Extremely possible. I hadn’t even thought of that.
