What it is:

Photo measuring 5.5 x 3.75 inches.

What I know about it:

Written on the back is: 1947 / The Fateful morning we were married  It looks like the Padre is imposing the Death sentence Ray looks scared too

This photo caught my eye because nobody looks happy here.  There’s even a little girl peeking around the priest at the camera, with a doleful expression on her face.  When I saw what was written on the back, I laughed, since it seemed to confirm my impression.  I assumed the message on the back was tongue-in-cheek, but sometimes I wonder.

  1. This is intriguing! The bride is beautiful. My guess for the location would be the Philippines.

  2. Likely a shotgun wedding. The bride seems to have a sense of humor about that day. My guess too is that it’s taking place in The Philippines.

  3. Obviously he’s a serviceman. Maybe felt like getting married was the “thing” to do. He seems so much older than she is. A lot of quick weddings happened around that time, for lots of reasons.
