Tug o War champs

This is a 5.75 x 3.5 inch photo, on the back of which is written “Winning Tug o War Team from San Jose”. I doubt I would have guessed that’s what was going on here without the caption. Interestingly, the things about the photo that I would normally consider flaws, like the imprecise focus, or the wonky exposure on the right, almost enhance it for me, giving it the feel of a hazy childhood memory.

The adult man at far right doesn’t seem to fit, as if this might be a double exposure.
Maybe he’s a ghost! 🙂
