Pensive young woman with a large hat

I was looking online to see if there was a name for this particular style of hat, so I could call it something other than “large”, but I didn’t find anything. Admittedly, I didn’t look very hard. If somebody knows, I’d be happy for the information. Meanwhile, I was impressed by how well-lit her face is, considering the hat. Somebody once taught me the trick of looking at the reflections in the eyes to see the direction of the light source, and that works here. The photographer seems to know what they’re doing. This is, by the way, a real photo post card, with no identification or other information. The paper manufacturer’s markings (AZO, four corners pointing up) narrow the date range to 1904-1918, which seems to match the fashions presented here.
