This one was too big for my scanner. The photo itself is about 10 x 8 inches, and the frame is 11.75 x 10.25 inches. The only thing interesting that got cropped out is the photographer’s information: The Loffredo Studio, 92 Seneca St, Buffalo, NY. I haven’t found much information on the photographer (at least that isn’t behind a paywall), but I did stumble upon this interesting article that profiles the photographer’s wife, who was apparently an internationally famous sky-diver. Meanwhile, there’s the photo. It’s undated and unidentified, but there’s plenty to look at. Everybody seems to have polite camera smiles, except the two men on either end, who seem genuinely delighted. To my mind, the bridesmaids’ hats go from left to right in effectiveness of the style, with the one on the left seeming to best embody what the style is supposed to look like, and the one on the right looking more like a pioneer bonnet or something. Bridesmaid #2 is missing a shoulder corsage, but they are all making up for it with bouquets that rival the bride’s in size. And that little boy in front! That cape! That was a new one for me.

  1. You’re so right about the hats! The boy with cape is very unusual looking indeed. The wife of the photographer was a fascinating woman! A lovely photo, with lots to view, and such veils like the bride is wearing are wonderful I think.

  2. Wonderful outfits and great smiles! The groom looks Italian to me, but who knows.

The Art Nouveau mat is also very nice.

I have a 10 x 14 photo of my parent’s wedding from, I would say, about 1938? also from Loffredo Studio but listed at 559 Main St. in Buffalo. The photo in encased in a hard carboard folder and I would have to rip it open to get the photo so I’ve never taken it out. Oh boy, those hats! No hats in my picture!

    • Oh, cool! It sounds like you have a treasure there, especially given the personal connection. Interesting to know he operated at different locations. Thanks for the comment!
