What it is:
Cardboard matte folder (5 x 7 inches closed) with five fold-out pages (4.5 x 6.25 inches each), each page with slots for 9 pictures. Of the 45 slots available, 21 have pictures (each a bit more than 1 x 1.75 inches). Folder is pre-printed on the front with “Class Mates” in green.
What I know about it:
The chalkboard being held up in the picture in the top row indicates it is Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Framingham, Massachusetts. It also seems to say 2 f 3, but I don’t know what that means. Something about the grade, perhaps? Otherwise undated and unidentified (yes, I checked the backs of the photos).
Comments:
I’m posting this in honor of back-to-school season. I have to admit I cheated, since the three boys on the left were in a horizontal row on an otherwise blank page, and I moved them to a vertical row so everybody would fit in my scanner. Other than that, this is how I found it. I don’t know if there is any significance to the order of the photos, or if anyone is missing. The jacket of the kid holding the chalk board is mysteriously missing from the other photos. I hope that the girl in the upper right corner had a better life than her miserable expression would indicate. Otherwise, it’s a nice set of bright, optimistic smiles.
What a treasure! It’s interesting to compare the different outfits that the kids are wearing. I especially like the western shirt that the boy in the top row, fourth from the left, is wearing. Was he a Hopalong Cassidy fan? The bowties of two boys are cute as well!
