Christmas greetings from little Virginia, 1911
What it is:
Photo (3.5 x 5 inches) mounted on a cardboard frame/backing (6.75 x 10.75 inches).
What I know about it:
Photographer is Johnson of Lisbon, Ohio. Written on the back (in an adult’s handwriting) is Christmas Greetings to Elizabeth and Angus from Virginia Lyle Smith 12/25/11.
Comments:
This is from the same Christmas as the photo I posted from our Austrian friend Richard. 1911. A century ago. Blows me away every time I actually stop and think about it. Frankly, although it’s unlikely that little Virginia is still with us, it’s not impossible, which also gives me pause (in a good way).
Merry Christmas, little Virginia, wherever you are! And to you, Matt!
Thanks, Paul. You, too!
Happy holidays, Matt!
Thanks, Katie, you too!
Divine! Unusual clothes for a child to be wearing in any era, I’d say.
She certainly is dolled up, isn’t she?
