What it is:
Two photos, each measuring 3.5 x 3.5 inches.
What I know about it:
The one on the left is labeled Luella, Sheila, Kyle Gene + Buttons. The one on the right is labeled Kyle Gene + Diz.
Comments:
That’s also his (presumably) mother and sister, of course, but I figured it was time to give my dog-loving readers another fix. I think they’re charming pictures, in any case. The one on the left is especially interesting, with the (I assume) family in their (probably) Sunday best, posing in that junk-strewn yard. The family is proudly making do. And the dogs are cool with whatever, as is the way with dogs.
I didn’t realize you knew their names! In case anyone wants to see, here’s the poster (for a local theater company) you generously allowed me to borrow the photo for; I hope Kyle Gene, Luella, Sheila, and Buttons wouldn’t mind (especially Luella, or Sheila, since I had to Photoshop her out). http://tinyurl.com/ck3qg4t
I didn’t do the typography on the title, btw; that was already completed when I got the job.
This reminds me that I meant to go to the preview; I was out of town. Yikes! Luckily, there are more performances left.
Thanks for posting that postcard image. It’s fun to see what was done to the source image to create the final product. Yes folks, she’s not only a “harried costumer”, she’s a graphic designer. 🙂 Like you, I assume Luella is the mother, but I could be wrong.
Poster looks great!
🙂
Charming.
Thanks, Mike.
The girl’s dress reminds me of my “Sunday best” around 1954. This dress looks as though it is made of that thin, filmy material that was popular then. (Maybe someone knows what it was.) Dresses either had to be lined or one had to have a sturdy slip because the material was so translucent. Those dresses were pretty and feminine but totally transparent.
Yes, you’d definitely need a slip or something. I think they frown on transparent dresses in church. 🙂
Such a great story behind the Sunday Best pic, no doubt!
You’re right, there probably is.
