Comments:
I wanted to do a New Year’s Eve post, but the only photos I have that I can specifically tie to New Year’s Eve are the two I posted last year. Still, I thought this image captured the spirit of a New Year’s Eve party, regardless of whatever occasion it actually depicts, so I chose it. In scanning it for this post, I noticed that it’s printed on Agfa paper, which suggests that it was printed in Germany. “But wait,” I thought, “are these people German? I though these were U.S. Army people.” That, of course, sent me diving into the internet to try to identify the insignia. I believe the guy on the left is a U.S. Army private, and the lapel pin that looks like a little castle on the guy on the right represents the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Perhaps they were stationed in Germany? I tried to identify more of the pins on the guy on the right. I was getting frustrated, and I finally thought, “Matt, stop! You have other things to do right now, and all you wanted to do was wish everybody a safe and happy New Year’s Eve.” So there you go. Happy New Year’s Eve!
Great pic. Happy New Year, Matt!
