What it is:

Photo measuring a bit more than 4.5 x 2.75 inches.

What I know about it:

Written in pencil is the word Macio, though I have no idea what that means or refers to.

Comments:

I try not to laugh at the well-intentioned subjects of my photos, but this one makes me chuckle.  It looks like somebody tried to arrange a nice family photo and became overwhelmed by the mob that turned out.  They are all mushed together between the two trees, even though the camera is framing the scene in a way that would allow them to spread out.  People are hidden behind each other, and in the shadows at the back.  Ah, well.  A good bunch of them have been captured for posterity anyway.  I’m curious about the setting, too.  The architecture of the building reminds me more of a store than a house.  And the whole scene, including the clothing, looks, to my American eyes, somewhat foreign.

  1. When I open your post , first thing is WOW ! 🙂 looking better it seems that this are some people comming from East Europa . I deduce it after I have seen how some of women had covered their heads . But looking better there are some man latin style , so it can be also some Italian people ….. Maybe macio is familly name ?

    • Thank you, Anisja! I had the same thoughts about the location. It seems to be a blend of what I think of as typical of different regions. And yes, Macio might be a family name. I couldn’t find that it was a location.

  2. It does feel “foreign” to me. Perhaps that is helped by the head scarves on most of the women. Everyone looks rather jolly, except for the kids in front. I wonder what happened to that awning?

  3. I also have to wonder about the gentleman in front of the whole group. Who is he? Is this some sort of manufacturing and he is their boss? Is he the family patriarch? He’s definitely in charge, whoever he is! (also, the skirts and feet peeking out from under the tree on the right make me giggle.)
