Comments:
This is another one I wouldn’t have realized was as old as it is until the date made me take a closer look. To me they look so relaxed and unposed, in such a timeless, un-studio-like setting, that I just assumed it was newer. But looking closer, things like the woman’s clothing seem to support the date on the back. And as always, it’s startling to realize that a moment that might have been yesterday was actually nearly a century ago.
The guy’s in WWI-style leggings, though I can’t tell if the rest of the outfit is part of a uniform. It could be, since they sometimes did wear shirts like that under their jackets. (The guy on the right here wears something fairly close in tone, although maybe not the same materials: http://www.aef-doughboys.com/photographs/Machinegun.jpg )
But the leggings might just be the kind people wore then to go hiking and the like.
Oh, thanks, yes, I see what you mean. I assumed they were some sort of riding breeches, or hiking attire. It didn’t occur to me they might be military.
