Three coy boys in Scranton, Pennsylvania

Click here to view it larger.

What it is:

Photo (approx. 4.5 x 6.5 inches) mounted into a cardboard frame/folder (I have cropped most of the folder from this scan).

What I know about it:

Photographer is Hornbaker (probably F. W.  Hornbaker) of Scranton, Pennsylvania.  Otherwise undated and unidentified.

Comments:

Scranton, of all places, has been good to my collection, and this one is no exception.  Are these brothers, shall we assume?  The two on the left certainly look related, I think.  And I’m not fooled by their shy smiles.  These boys are loving being in front of the camera.

  1. How delightful to see an older portrait of children where they appear relaxed and as though they might actually be enjoying the sitting.
