What it is:

Photo measuring slightly less than 4 x 6 inches.

What I know about it:

Nothing!  Undated and unidentified.

I love this couple.  Not only are they attractive (to my eyes), but they seem to fully embody the style of their era.  (I want to say 1920s, but I’m so often wrong that I’ll defer to the expertise of my readers.)  I’m typically content to leave vintage fashions in the past, but sometimes people, such as this couple, will wear fashions so well that they seem like obvious and desirable choices, making me wonder why the fashions aren’t worn more often today.  By the way, I don’t understand why the image was printed with the large, irregular blank space at the bottom, but there you have it.

  1. Snazzy, sharp dressers!

  2. To my eye it appears as though something, most likely by accident, blocked part of the camera lens during the sitting. In that non-digital age the defect in the portrait would not be noticed until after the sitting when the negatives were developed. Although cropping was possible, perhaps the resultant photograph would not fit into the studio’s stock frames or some other reason prevented editing the picture or a second sitting.

    • Yes, I agree. At first I thought it might have been some funny way to prepare the photo for an unusual frame, but why not just print it normally and print it? It’s probably just an error.

  3. Definitely 1920s, based upon the collar on the woman’s dress and the center panel of the bodice.
