Girl from Throop in Scranton
Click here to view it larger.
What it is:
Photo (image is 4.25 x 6 inches, printed on 6 x 10 inches card stock) mounted into a cardboard frame/folder. (I have, obviously, cropped everything but the image from this scan.)
What I know about it:
Photographer is J. B. Schriever of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Written on the back in pencil is Wm Nuwman / Under wood / Throop pa.
Comments:
I wasn’t sure what to call this one, since a seated girl, in Scranton, dressed in white with a big white bow in her hair, is already covered by this photo. But then I pulled the photo out of the frame and notice the writing on the back (along with what appears to be the residue of the glue from an envelope flap stuck to the back). Throop is a small town near Scranton, and Underwood is a street in that town. So I’m assuming that William Nuwman is the responsible party here, probably the father of the girl pictured, and the man paying for the photo. By the way, other photos from this photographer can be seen here and here, the second one showing what I believe to be the same chair.
Pretty girl, great photo.
Thanks, Mike!
