Family in Binghamton, New York

Click here to view it larger.

What it is:

Cabinet card measuring 4.25 x 6.5 inches.

What I know about it:

The fancy logo is a little hard to read, but the photographer appears to be D. A. Sander (or Sanders, or Sauder) of Binghamton, New York.  Otherwise undated and unidentified.

Comments:

I love this picture.  There’s a certain formality to the composition of it, resulting in a nice family portrait that they can feel good about sharing.  But there’s also a nice informality to it, particularly in the way the boy is sitting on the floor, and the girls are leaning comfortably into the adults.  Even though nobody is smiling, it has a very relaxed air, and a strong sense of loving warmth.
