What it is:

What I know about it:
Photographer is H. Wallewijn of Leiden [The Netherlands]. Otherwise undated and unidentified.
Comments:
I realize this is a studio setting, and such settings often operate with a degree of poetic license when composing images, but unless I’m not seeing things correctly, it looks like a woman has dragged a chair into the middle of a road to have her picture taken. Plus, with the head-on lighting and the slightly startled expression on her face, it looks like a car is approaching. I doubt that’s the impression they intended to create, but it amuses me nonetheless.
Great interpretation Matt! I often buy photos that amuse me for some small reason. Most of my friends wonder what I am on about and cannot understand my mirth!
Thanks, Katherine! Agreed, I buy my photos for my own reasons. I hope people enjoy them as much as I do, but if not, my own enjoyment is enough. 🙂
Lekker! As they say in Dutch.
Thank you. 🙂
Something about the way the ground is painted makes me think she ought to be on skates.
Also, I just noticed she has a load of jewelry on!
Yes, she’s accessorized.
I know what you mean, like a snowy lane in an otherwise summery setting.
