What it is:
Photo measuring 4×6 inches, mounted into a cardboard frame/folder. (I have cropped most of the frame from this scan.)
What I know about it:
Photographer is Rolf von Rubens of San Francisco. Baby is unidentified. Undated, but see comments.
Comments:
Ah, the pleasures of self-discovery. As for dating this photo, a quick search on the photographer reveals two clues. One is a listing from 1916, and the other is an announcement from 1923 saying the business has merged with another studio down the street. So I assume this photo can be dated to 1923 at the latest, going back to 1916 or earlier.
