Young man with a chair

Here’s another CDV I bought last weekend. Holding this little picture in my hand, it resembles the one I posted here four days ago, except with the addition of a chair. But enlarging it, of course, I can see there are significant differences, like their faces. Like the previous one, this one doesn’t identify either the subject or the photographer, but unlike the previous one, it does have a revenue stamp on the back, suggesting the photo was taken between August 1864 and August 1866. The stamp cost 3 cents, indicating the photo cost between 25 and 50 cents. That’s on the steeper side. It must be the addition of the chair. 🙂
The chair is beautifully carved. I wonder why the man’s pant legs are different lengths.
Some sort of 1860s version of punk fashion? 🙂
Ha! 😄
