Comments:
One of my very firsts posts was a pair of wedding photos from Streator, Illinois. (See them here.) Those two, plus the one posted here, were all purchased together, so it makes sense that there might be some connection. I’ve even been trying to decide if any of the mob pictured above is also one of the wedding photo participants. I don’t think so, but still. Maybe it’s just the power of suggestion, but there seems to be a slight family resemblance. As for the people above, I’m guessing the older men standing in the back are uncles or cousins or something. And there’s something about the overall pose that I can’t quite put my finger on. Though they are apparently all relaxed and comfortable in their poses, they still manage to convey the impression (to me) that they are all ready to spring into action. Oh, and don’t miss the fringe on the chair to the left.
Very interesting. I love these large families! All so serious and obedient. What a striking difference from today. Yes, I thought uncles in the background too. Wow at that fringe!
I know there are plenty of large families today, but it’s mostly just not my experience or the experience of my friends. How things have changed.
That girl looks JUST like her mama!
Sometimes the family resemblances in these photos is startling.
